The basic rule for summer outfits is simple: never wear multiple layers in summer. But that does not mean you cannot layer your summer dress at all. There are proper ways to accessorize and layer during hot summer days without looking hideous and tasteless. By mastering these simple layering tips, you can show off your brand whatever season it is.
1. Statement jacket is perfect for layering over a light-colored dress. The key to looking class yet on-the-go is using only a statement jacket that has a close shade to that of the dress, if not the same. A slim motorcycle jacket can also work, but no mixing of contrasting colors here.
2. If you are a short woman (five feet and below), wearing a blazer on top of a summer dress is not advisable because it will make you look shorter and more rotund. However, you do not have to stay far away from the style as there are remedies available.
A cropped denim jacket is a better choice than blazer but you need to find the right combination. A cropped army jacket will also look fantastic as the feminine-masculine contrast makes a bold statement.
3. For dresses with low neck line, only wear small, narrow necklaces and earrings. Pendants can be as prominent as you want them to be but definitely no blings and bangles. Many women follow the shape of their dresses, so when their neck lines drop to the cleavage level, they also wear long, humongous necklaces and pendants that can fill the space on their exposed chest. Similarly, when they wear sleeveless dresses, they wear wide bracelets to fill the long, exposed limb.
These styles usually work during formal occasions and evening events during summer. But unless you are attending these soirees and formal dinners, you better stay away from large accessories when wearing a summer dress.
