Women’s skirts come in all kinds of styles; there is a shape and color to suit everyone. Skirts are very versatile and can be worn for pretty much any occasion; sports are probably the main exception to this. So whatever the occasion you will be able to find a suitable skirt to wear.
Suit your shape
Different body shapes are flattered best by different types and patterns of skirt, so to look your best choose a skirt to suit your shape. Remember, darker colors are generally more slimming, and bright colors draw attention to the area, so go bold if you love your legs!
Petite – If you a small then avoid big patterns and skirts with lots of fabric or you will be swamped. Pencil skirts with heels will lengthen your legs and shape generally and a body con skirt will add curves if you are a little skinny. Cute dresses with small prints suit you beautifully as they will complement your dainty frame.
Bit of a tummy – If you have a little more weight round your middle than you would like, then choose a high waisted skirt that flares a little over the tummy area. Avoid a tight waistband as they can create a bulge above and below that is not flattering. Dresses that are fitted below the bust and then flare out are also good for hiding a tummy, and vertical stripes or swirling patterns will lengthen your body.
Hiding your legs – If you really want to cover up your legs then you probably already have plenty of long swirling skirts. Why not try something a little different with a fitted skirt? A wool type material that is stretchy will give you some shape as well as letting you walk easily enough, and a fish tail skirt can be really flattering as it creates an hour glass silhouette.
Whatever your shape you can find something to flatter you; don’t try to squeeze into something too small or go for huge and baggy if you fell too skinny as both will just accentuate what you are trying to hide. Go for a style that fits well, and try a few different ones on with a friend that you can trust to be honest, and then believe them when they say you look good; you are always your own worst critic. Try something a little different and turn some heads, it will be a great confidence boost!
